The festival of ‘Guru Purnima’ is celebrated with much gust and galore throughout India. It is a day when the students or the disciples celebrate the role of their guru in their life. It is actually a combination of two Sanskrit words ‘Gu’ and ‘Ru’. ‘Gu’ in Sanskrit means ignorance or darkness and ‘Ru’ means the remover of the darkness. Basically the person who is responsible for removing the darkness in our life is known as Guru.
This festival is normally celebrated in the month of Ashadh on a full moon day. The gurumuni Vyas Was born on that day therefore the Guru purnima also known as Vyas Purnima.
